Lindsey Cormack, PhD is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Stevens Institute of Technology and the Director of DCinbox. Her work focuses on American political institutions, democratic representation, and how citizens learn about and engage with politics. She is the author of How to Raise a Citizen (And Why It’s Up to You to Do It), which explores how families and communities can cultivate resilient civic know-how across generations, as well as Congress and U.S. Veterans: From the GI Bill to the VA Crisis.
Dr. Cormack is the creator and director of DCInbox, a publicly accessible digital archive of official congressional e-newsletters that scholars, journalists, and educators use to study how members of Congress communicate with constituents. Her academic research has appeared in journals including Political Behavior, Congress & the Presidency, American Politics Research, Legislative Studies Quarterly, Political Science Research and Methods and more. Her writing and analysis have been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, NBC News, The Hill, Bloomberg, Fox News, USA Today, and is a frequent guest on radio and television programs.
Dr. Cormack regularly speaks with parent groups, civic organizations, and educators across the country on practical approaches to civic education, democratic norms, and political participation beyond voting. She serves as Secretary of Manhattan Community Board 8 and on the editorial board of Legislative Studies Quarterly as well as the board of Everything Policy. She earned her PhD in Government from NYU and her BA from the University of Kansas
